Arts Camp alumni nominated for 2024 Academy Awards
Composer Laura Karpman and actor Da’Vine Joy Randolph earned individual nods for their work on Best Picture-nominated films ‘American Fiction’ and ‘The Holdovers.’
Interlochen Arts Camp alumnae Laura Karpman (IAC/NMC 70-74) and Da’Vine Joy Randolph (IAC 03, IAC St 05) have been selected as nominees for the 96th Academy Awards.
Karpman received a nomination for Best Original Score for her work on American Fiction. The film, which features alumnus Dustin Tucker (IAA 94-98, IAC St 09) as Phillip, was also nominated for Best Picture.
Randolph earned a nomination for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her portrayal of Mary Lamb in the Best Picture-nominated comedy-drama The Holdovers—a performance that won her the 2024 Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role earlier this year. Fellow alumni Dustin Tucker (Mr. Rosenswieg) and current Arts Academy student Jim Kaplan (Ye-Joon Park) also appeared in the film.
The 96th Academy Awards will be announced during the awards ceremony at Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood on Sunday, March 10, 2024. The ceremony will be televised live on ABC at 7 p.m. ET.
Presented annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, the Academy Awards (also known as the Oscar Awards) honor excellence in cinematic achievement. Members of the Academy vote to determine nominees and winners across 23 different award categories. Since the awards were first presented in 1929, three Interlochen Arts Camp and Arts Academy alumni have been selected as Academy Award winners.
