Steve Hayden addresses the Interlochen Arts Academy Class of 2019.
On May 25, 2019, Interlochen trustee Steve Hayden (IAC/NMC 62, IAA 62-64) presented the commencement address to the Interlochen Arts Academy Class of 2019.
In a humorous yet poignant speech, Hayden, a charter student of Interlochen Arts Academy, shared his own memories of Interlochen with the graduates and offered insights from his long and lauded career in advertising.
President Trey Devey invited Hayden to speak at commencement after attending Hayden’s induction into the Advertising Hall of Fame in April 2018. In a career that spanned nearly 50 years, Hayden worked with clients such as IBM, Kodak, and American Express, among others. He is perhaps best known for his groundbreaking “1984”-inspired Apple commercial and as the voice of Motorola’s “Hello, Moto” campaign.
