Audio Interview: Finding your voice through others

Fans of cartoons, anime and video games have most likely heard the voice of Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (IAC/NMC 81-83, IAC/NMC Staff 84-85, IAC Fac 89) without even knowing it. From the Silent Hill series to voicing Major Motoko Kusanagi in the widely acclaimed Japanese animated series Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, McGlynn's impressive career as a voice actor and director spans medium, culture and continent.

Not long before she directed the English-language adaptation of the Japanese series Cowboy Bebop she was performing as a character actress in such series as Star Trek: Voyager, Quantum Leap and Xena: Warrior Princess.

From here you can listen to our recent phone interview with McGlynn. In it she discusses her time at Interlochen as a camper/staff/faculty member, the events that shaped her career and offers parting advice for young artists.

After listening, be sure to follow McGlynn on Twitter at @MaryEMcGlynn. You can currently hear McGlynn as Governor Pryce on the third season of Star Wars Rebels. She is also the voice director on the current Disney Channel show Tangled: The Series.

This interview includes a portion of the song "Tank!" by The Seatbelts.
