In Memoriam: March 2015

IN MEMORIAM 

Arthur Schneider (IAC 54-56, IAC St 57-68) of Frankfort, Michigan passed away on January 24, 2015.

Henrietta "Rita" Heydon (IAC 61, IAA 64-65) of Ann Arbor, Michigan passed away on January 8, 2015. Rita was a passionate advocate for Interlochen, the arts, public radio and the humane treatment of animals.

Barbara D'Asaro (IAC Fac 70-73, 78-85) of Oak Park, Illinois passed away on January 6, 2015.

Matthew Walker Clair Rose (IAC 72, IAA 72-73, IAC St 73, UM 74) of Chicago, Illinois passed away on June 12, 2014.

Kathleen "Kate" Kehoe (AS 79, IAC St 88-89, 91, 00, IAA St 88-89, ICA St 97) of Grand Forks, North Dakota passed away on January 7, 2015 after a brief illness. Kate was an All State camper in 1979 and returned to entertain everyone in Intermediate Girls for four summers. Kate also worked in Thor Johnson as a hall counselor in 1988-89. After her time at Interlochen, Kate served as the liturgist at Holy Family Church in Clarkston, Washington and for the last 16 years at Holy Family Catholic Church in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Kate is survived by her mother Patricia Kehoe (IAC St 58-59) of Gladwin, Michigan and her brother Peter Kehoe (AS 76-78, 80) of Petoskey, Michigan.

Marilyn Smith (IAC St 92-12, IAA St 01-10) of Interlochen, passed away in February 21, 2015. In addition to her nearly two decades as a member of the staff in the Health Services office, Marilyn volunteered with Interlochen Center for the Arts for 26 years. During that time, Marilyn’s contributions of time and energy were extraordinary. She was named the “Volunteer of the Year” in 2001 and in every year from 2003-06. In 2010, she became the first inductee into the Interlochen Volunteer Hall of Fame.

Jean Bonisteel Knecht (Friend of Interlochen) of Evanston, Illinois passed away on December 25, 2014. Jean and the Bonisteel family were major benefactors of Interlochen's beautiful library.
