In memoriam: October 2021

We are deeply saddened to share that Interlochen alumnus and Life Trustee John Francis Manuel (IAC/NMC 81-82, IAA 82-83) passed away on Sept. 20, 2021. He was 56. A gifted percussionist and conductor, Manuel performed alongside Barry Manilow, Bette Midler, and Elton John, eventually serving as vice president of logistics and advance teams for the Elton John Band. A passionate supporter of Interlochen, Manuel served on the Interlochen Board of Trustees for 18 years. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, Margaret “Meg” (Cutting) Manuel (AS 78-80), and their son, Edward (IAC 07-11, 16, IAA 12-16, IAC St 18-19, 21).

Richard Burton (IAC St 54, 59) of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on Sept. 4, 2021.

Carolyn Ames (ICA St 62-73) of Beulah, Michigan, passed away on Sept. 30, 2021.

Georgia Geha (IAC/NMC 70-73, 75-77, IAA 75-79, IAC St 78) of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away on Sept. 19, 2021.

Kelly Yousoufian (IAA 79-81) of Troy, Michigan, passed away on July 26, 2021.

Kevin Pettit (IAC/NMC 81-82, IAA 84-85) of South Bend, Indiana, passed away on Sept. 9, 2021.
